Naviair, the Air Navigation Service Provider in Denmark, has reached a decisive milestone in the development of organization and technology that puts the company in a position to leap forward from the national scale to the European scale.
At the end of the year Naviair will put an entirely new air traffic management system into operation. The new air traffic management system is the culmination of more than 10 years of systematic development of organization, employees and technology. First and foremost, it puts Naviair in a position to continue serving the airlines that fly through Danish airspace with a high level quality and safety. The new air traffic management system adheres to the highest standards for air traffic control, and it also puts Naviair in a position to accommodate the strongly increasing demand. | | Equally important is that the new air traffic management system makes it possible for Naviair to take the next step toward more efficient air traffic control as a transnational European activity.
The new air traffic management system means that Naviair is geared for cooperation with other Air Navigation Service Providers in Europe under the “Single European Sky” concept, that is, the establishment of a common European airspace with the economic advantages that this will give the air transport industry.

The new air traffic management system consists of a new control center, installed in a new facility in Kastrup, a new control tower at Copenhagen Airport and new air traffic control equipment in the towers in Copenhagen, Billund and Roskilde airports. |
